Ch. 4 For self-study of Geology

Preface

This site is prepared for the young geologists.  The site includes overview of earth science and geology, rock classification, microscope observation, resource geology and environment geology.

CONTENTS

4.1  Introduction to Earth Science

4.2  Rock Classification

4.3  Resource and Environment

-----------------------------

4.1 Introduction to Earth Science (As of June 27, 2020)

Geological Time

Website of University of California, Berkeley.  We can study stratigraphy, ancient life and tectonics in each geologic time.

Geologic Time Scale

---------------------

4.2 Rock Classification (As of June 27, 2020)

https://www.geosociety.org/gsatoday/science/G384A/article.htm

The IUGS system for rock classification was introduced more than 40 years ago.  The authors propose a quantitative modification to the IUGS system that reduces the number of distinct names but more effectively communicates the inherent variability of plutonic rocks.
